My herbal textbook notes that ling zhi is good for 'deficiency conditions' but is not recommended for 'excess conditions'. This means that it's more appropriate for most forms of chronic illness than for the breathing difficulty you get with a nasty cold or other short-term infection.

The person who fits the profile for getting the most benefit from Lingzhi would be a stressed-out, tired person who has difficulty sleeping, poor appetite and shallow breathing.

NP :) The main reason I looked it up is because I developed this fear of people using herbal remedies when they don't know about the side effects - information on side effects for any kind of medicine tends to be poorly publicised.

These mushrooms 'very rarely' cause dehydration and nausea. So medicine doesn't often come safer.
