I don't live near most of them. For nearly 10 years, I didn't live near ANY of them. Talking on the phone is not terribly accessible to me although I do when I have to. The internet? E-mail, instant message and blog posts? Are the only reason I was able to keep in touch with most of the people I consider friends, get and give comfort, get and give advice, keep up with life.
People who put down online interactions are making a false comparison. They think they are comparing interactions online with interaction in "real life." In so many cases, what they really should be comparing is interaction online with no interactions at all.
...but whatever, I'm better at internetting too. So we're cool. Like cucumbers. Or like Fonzie. Keep on being an internet friend, I'm right there with you.
