I must admit i feel rather differently about my autistic brain (some of its quirks are pretty awesome; some suck) to how i feel about the rest of my disabilities.
I get that so much. It's not so much that autism has symptoms. It has associated syndromes that are annoying and sucky. Autism is the brain's wiring; it's a disability because the issues that spring from it affect everyday life in occasionally very irritating and debilitating ways. But being autistic is awesome, because it's being able to see and know the world in ways that are almost "para normal" - the, er "autistic savant" is extremely, wildly rare, and isn't even the point of autism. But it makes sense. Especially when our Special Interests speed us beyond Normal Brains, if you know what I mean. Like, I am totally aware that my fiction storytelling is, well, genius
