Chapter 2
Yuya was walking to his class when Mariko bumped into him. He mind was too occupied with the thoughts of Aya.
“Ah, I’m sorry. I wasn’t looking where I was going,” Yuya apologized.
“Oh Yuya,” Mariko smiled cutely, “no problem.” Yuya smiled and walked ahead and Mariko followed him. She wasn’t letting him off that easily after this lunch.
“So Math?” Mariko asked.
“Uh… yah, how about you?” Yuya walked on.
“Oh yah same here!” Mariko smiled her best.
“Nice,” Yuya replied and went on; leaving Mariko alone. She smiled to herself and entered. Aya and Ruka were sitting together again. Aya saw Yuya again and smiled to herself. Ruka nudged her friend back to the real world. Yuya sat in the way back, where they were sitting. He looked at Aya and smiled his sweet, magical smile. Aya felt herself blush uncontrollably and just looked down and her notebook so he wouldn’t see her. Mariko entered the class right behind Yuya and saw that glow in Aya’s eyes and that blush. She gave her a cold glare and sat in her seat while her mind was already planning a special scheme for this Aya.
AFTER SCHOOL
“Ahhh~!” Aya sighed and stretched her arms, “what a day!” Ruka and Jin smiled at each other. They knew what a day it was for the friend. It was a very special first day. With Yuya.
“Really, it was a good start,” Ruka replied.
“I hope every day is like this.”
“Oh really? What did you like the most about this day that much?” Jin inquired.
“Well - the teachers were nice, the classes were so much fun and the people - “ Aya caught herself.
“And the people?” Jin repeated.
“What people?” Ruka smiled, “we didn’t meet a lot of people.”
“No one in particular guys, everyone was nice,” Aya explained.
“Right~” Jin and Ruka smiled sweetly.
AT HOME
“Ugh! I hate this school!!” Aya threw her pen on her textbook.
“I thought you said you liked this school, like a few hours ago,” Ruka looked up from her book.
“Which school gives homework and this much on the first day!” Aya fixed her hair bun and got up, irritated from her books. Her friend smiled at her. She went to the washroom and splashed her face. Her eyes closed and the only face that kept appearing was Yuya’s and his sweet, angelic smile. She couldn’t get him out of her mind. He was the biggest reason why her homework seemed so long and hard. The reason is entirely different to why I like the school. Aya thought to herself and remembered the morning when she saw Yuya walk into her class. He was so perfect. That it was unbelievable. How can one guy be so flawless!? Aya sighed to herself and came back.
“Done daydreaming about Yuya?” Ruka kept reading.
“I wasn’t daydreaming about Yuya!” Ruka looked up and gave her friend a look, “yah… I was.” Aya sat on her chair and played with her pen. Yuya and his smile kept reappearing in her head. She knew it was just a crush, or not even but she couldn’t let the thought of him looking directly at her and smiling. That was his thing. Maybe he thought she was cute. That thought just made her giggle like some fangirl.
“What do you think that smile meant?” Aya said.
“What smile?” Ruka kept reading.
“You know, the smile he gave me in the café at lunch today,” Aya smiled even more as she kept remembering.
“Oh that… yah I have no idea,” Ruka looked up and smiled.
“ Ruka~!!!
“Okay, let me think. Maybe, it was the ‘Oh-it’s- the-girl-from-my-class’ smile.” Aya gave her a look.
“Alright…that’s a no. Oh! It was the ‘Oh-she’s-cute’ smile,” Ruka fixed her statement.
“That’s better,” Aya smiled, “I like the sound of that.”
“Yeah - that’s true in your imaginary world!” Ruka laughed and Aya pouted.
“I thought you were my friend!”
“Okay, okay. I’m sorry. He’s totally into you. For real.”
“Aww~! I love you!!” Aya hugged her.
“I love you too.”
NEXT DAY
Mariko took a deep breath and entered her classroom. Day one starting now! She thought to herself. Her mind made up so many plans the day before, it was perfect! Mariko smirked to herself and walked in.
“Ah, your name is Aya right?” Mariko came up to Aya in class.
“Yep,” Aya smiled and she got her stuff out, “you are?” Mariko expression changed for a second. SHE doesn’t know ME?!
“I’m Mariko, nice to meet you,” Mariko smiled, gaining her composure.
“Nice to meet you too.”
“Is the seat beside you vacant?” Aya looked at the seat. It was where Yuya sat yesterday.
“Oh…yah…” Aya kept smiling. Damn it! Now where will he sit! She complained in her head. Mariko smiled back and sat down. Aya looked at Ruka who smiled and moved to the seat in front of Aya to make her seat, which was also beside Aya, vacant. Which Yuya took quickly and smiled at Aya when their eyes met. She felt her cheeks start burning and her body going weak and looked straight ahead. What is in that smile!?
The whole class Mariko kept talking to Aya and then invited her to lunch together. But didn’t allow Ruka to come. She planned last night that Ruka might come in the way. Aya looked her best friend apologetically and went to lunch with Mariko and her friends. Ruka and Jin ate lunch together while watching their friend and planning how to make her feel their wrath of leaving them behind. They agreed on silent treatment.
AFTER SCHOOL
Jin, Ruka and Aya walked out the school together and Aya kept trying to make them talk to her. They would look at her and shake their head and look away and talk between themselves. Their plan was going on since lunch. And it was going great.
“See you tomorrow Aya,” Yuya smiled and waved at her. Aya smiled at him.
“Same to you!” Aya looked away and giggled and her friends smiled and went “Ohhh~!!!”
“AH! You talked!” Aya pointed at them and laughed as they covered their mouths. They walked out and Mariko watched the trio walk away as her friends came up behind her.
“Why are you even trying to befriend her? She’s weird.” Momoko, her friend asked.
“So I can get her away from my Yuya and Yuya closer to me,” Mariko smiled to herself as she crossed her arms and watched Aya walking happily with her friends.
“Cherish your happiness Hideki Aya because in a few days there will be none of it left. Everything will be turned upside down,” Mariko smiled. One point Mariko, Zero for Aya.
