Fair-weather fan no more

I don't know if I can like football again. My dad and brother were making fun of me during my footie days, because "they spend two hours playing, only for the score to stay zero-zero". But it's not because of that.

...I just don't have the will to wake up at 2:30 a.m. anymore. I value my sleep too much. Sleep's been good to me. Sleep's made me hot, if I may say so, hur hur.

Or maybe that's happening because I don't really like anyone in football anymore. =(

You know I'm starting to get really invested in the NBA when 1.) I get depressed during a loss, and 2.) I'm ignoring all other scripted TV shows, just for the Playoffs.

I want to give Paul Pierce a hug, wherever he is. I don't intend to watch Game 4, but from his stat line, he worked hard but then ended up missing potential game-winning shots. Maybe a lapse of selfishness there to try to be the hero. That's got to be a heart-breaker.

Or maybe he was doing so because he wanted to back up his "See y'all next year" taunt during Game 2 at Orlando. Hahahaha.

Even just reading the play-by-plays, I sensed that the C's were resting on their laurels rather prematurely. That's the same thing that happened to my boys in blue last year-after a series of hard wins, they got complacent and lost because they relaxed too soon.

Let's see this loss as a blessing in disguise once again. Let this be a wake up call. Boys, you have to stay focused for all of four quarters the entire freaking series.

So, yes, I'm scared now that the series is going back to Orlando. I actually don't like how that "no NBA team has ever recovered from 0-3" line is trumpeted and I hardly see it as a guaranteed Finals place for the C's, because...hey, anything is possible. I'm also just as annoyed when it's pointed out that overcoming a 0-3 deficit has been done this month against the Boston Bruins in the NHL. Right. Because hockey and basketball are very similar sports. Conveniently left out of that headline is that the Bruins had three injured players.

In the meantime, to that Magic fan who's gloating (hint: actually not related to me)...you only won ONE game in this series so far. In OVERTIME. Jameer Nelson only had a nice display because Rondo was suffering from spasms. Let's not get cocky too early, okay?

I hate this feeling, the anxiety. I hate having to wait for redemption.

It hasn't been a good day. I'm listless. I need chocolate a drink.

When I'm depressed like this after a loss, it's official.

When I end up worshipping them more after a loss, it's official.

I'm not a fair-weather fan anymore.

If my dad wasn't such a Celtics fanboy, I'd probably cheer for the Magic, because of J.J. Redick.

He told me he became a Celtics fan during the Bill Russell years. His only source of NBA news back then was the newspaper. Which would publish NBA updates once a month.

Later, local TV would air games delayed by weeks, until they got a satellite to peddle off the American troops' TV station broadcasting to Clark Air Base to get live games.

Anyway, I probably only find Paul Pierce remotely attractive because...well, look at his other teammates. Next to Garnett, Ray Allen, Rondo, Perkins? Come on, no contest.

Okay, back to work.

Need: Chocolate. Maybe that Vosges Oaxaca bar with chili. Oooh. A DRINK.
Have to: Work. LOL.
Adore: Rajon Rondo. He talks as fast as he runs, it's hilarious.
Miss, love: Paul Pierce
Worship: Steve Nash. Although I got grossed out reading about him putting his own nose back in place after Derek Fisher broke it again.
Hate: Hubris
