wigged out

Hey, costuming people, does anyone have recommendations for a good-quality long blonde wig? (ie, one that won't look cheap/shiny in person or in pictures.) Everything I've bought in the past has been fairly low-quality, but this time I'm willing to spend the money for a decent wig, and I'm not sure where to look. It's for Yvaine, if that helps.

A lot of people buy from cosplay.com, but I feel like those are only medium quality. All of the wigs I've recieved from them have had the tacky shiny quality that you're describing.

Amphigory.com is my favorite site for wigs. I've ordered from them probably ten times. Their wigs are always really thick, which is nice. I'm not sure that's what you want for Yvaine though. Hmm. They usually have medium to low shine.

I have had good luck twice with the ebay seller darcinut, but that is only a couple of his wigs and I can't be sure they're all as good. They're cheap, which turned me off at first, but they seemed like good quality to me when I received them! Both were blonde non-shiny which is why he came to mind.

Lastly the best wig site I know of is http://cyperous.com/, but it is very expensive, difficult to navigate, and ships from Japan. I haven't managed to order from them yet, though I've tried a couple of times. Maybe you'll have better luck! They're practically worshiped in anime costuming circles ( ... )

Oooh, thanks for the Amphigory link! I think their Alice's Dream could work, assuming it can be further straightened by the hot water method. And it's pretty inexpensive!

Yay, my Elphaba wig was Alice's Dream! I was very happy with it. I could pull it back or restyle it or anything I wanted; because it was full enough to not show weft. Win! Mine was a little shinier than I would like, but I think it was because it was black. Those are always shiny.

How long do you need it to be?

I'm also looking around for a new Blonde Wig for my Galadriel/Eowyn/Anarien/Yvaine etc and was recommended this wig by bonnie_halfelvn if I remember correctly:

It's about mid-back. There's a picture linked in the post above.

Hmmm, that wig is pretty long. Of course I could always trim it. I'll poke around on that site some more. Thanks!

Hoping to have her done by SDCC, but she's lowest on the priority list right now. D*C for sure.
