They'd been so damn careful. Ever since...Kirin had stayed away from sunlight, as much as he was able, they'd taken precautions, measures to counteract the horrible possibility they'd be awakened to.
And now he was out there just throwing it away. Jamie slammed a stack of dishes into the sink, cracking one of the plates.

He stepped inside and leaned against the door. Despite standing outside in direct sunlight for more than an hour, his skin looked as white and pale as it was before.
"So much for trying for a tan," Kirin tried to joke as he walked into the kitchen and hugged the man from behind. "Still mad?"

Letting out a sigh, he turned in Kirin's arms, eyes roving over unblemished skin, as if he could tell the damage done merely by sight. He knew better.
