How can you draw something hundreds of times before with no problems and suddenly not even be able to see what's wrong with it when it's not working now?  I mean, how many guys faces have I drawn by now?  Why, why does this one look retarded?  GRRRR ( Read more... )

Why does that always happen?? and at the worst times too? Like in the middle of some deadline or something...
since you've already flipped it and turned it upside down, my only advice is to walk away, draw something else or just do something totally different for a while. At least that's what I have to do when I can't beat something into submission. Good luck, I hope you can get him to work right <33

It's true, I had to sleep in the end, and I won't be getting back to it tonight, so maybe after a two day break I'll have a little more perspective on it.

Or maybe I'll start over. Sometimes that's the best thing to do.

You are so right. My sketchbooks are full of failures that I've done multiple times before they finally worked. That sounds horrible =_=

I think I know how you feel, but for me it wasn't drawing, it was setting a sleeve into a dress bodice. No matter what I did, it WOULD NOT sit right. I kept setting it, hand basting it, seeing how wonky it looked, and getting angrier and angrier.

I kept thinking "I CAN'T EVEN COUNT HOW MANY SLEEVES I'VE SET IN MY LIFE!!!! Why is this NOT WORKING!?!?!?"

Walking away for a while really helped. Then, I wasn't ready to chew the whole garment into tatters.

Thanks, sometimes it helps to take a break and read some comments! Really though, Grrrr.... I hope your sleeve came out eventually!

I think I ended up cutting another sleeve and setting THAT one into the garment, if I'm remembering correctly. It was like the garment kept "spitting out" the other, offending sleeve.

Take a break. *hugs* That's what helps for me sometimes, to just not even think about it for a day or two, breathe and come to it with fresh eyes. <3

Go for a walk, bake, watch a good action movie, chill with Tamara... etc.

oooh I may be sending you some Eihall goodness tonight. :D

I can honestly say I have never had that problem...seeing as though my best artistic adventure stared a stick man who looked deformed...but I have had that problem with sewing...when I have made the same thing a million times and they work great...and then one day, I can't make a skirt to save my life. I was working on a commission not to long ago that I didn't really want to do anyway and it was just disaster after disaster after disaster! So XOXO to you...turn it off and try it again another day.
