Zen and the clothesline

When you work from home (as I do) and you have a house-husband (as I do) you can choose to do certain domestic chores that bring you pleasure AND you can choose to do them instead of taking ordinary coffee breaks in your work day. (Domestic chores that bring you no pleasure can be left to the above-mentioned house-husband. Isn't having a house- ( Read more... )

I had a rather intensive washing duty yesterday. It started at 11:30 AM and ended about 2:30 AM, due to the sheer amount of sheets that needed drying and the lines I put up on my balcony didn't offer enough drying options so I had to use the dryer closet in the middle of the night when all other tenants were asleep.

Being able to do laundry at my own pace and hang things outside is one of the simple pleasures I consciously appreciate every time I do it.

When I first moved into the apartment in Malmö I thought it was very European and quaint to carry the laundry through the building, across the courtyard, through another building and down down down into the depths of the garage to use the tvättstugan. The charm only lasted a few weeks. (Although the charm and OCD-joy of the mangel is still thoroughly alive.)

And in our buildings use of the tvättstugan was prohibited after midnight but there were several of us who were renegades and made midnight raids.

OOOPS!! Seems I'm not logged in to LJ any more. Oh well. My comment to you is...do you have a mangeler? I know how much you enjoyed mangeling your sheets, pillowcases, underwear, etc., etc. while you lived in the apartment. Just don't know if you now own your own mangel.

Love you,

Oh yes, we bought a used one right after we moved to the cabin. I definitely do mangel bed linens and cotton kitchen dishtowels when hanging them on the line isn't an option.

You're gifted at making ODC sound serene and beautiful. !
I'm left with a beautiful picture of you at the clothesline. Love it!

My favorite place to ODC in is my closet. Long sleeves, short sleeves, sleeveless, sweaters, turtle necks, each set grouped in colors from lightest to darkest...etc.
