I agree with everything in this comment! Also, don't underestimate a child's memory. I have a friend whose 7 years old daughter I met once. I brought back a baby blanket from Sweden with "honung" on it. She still asks about me, five years later. :)

You are absolutely right: this child is being born into a world of hugely greater possibilities for connection and communication than was possible when I was a new mother. Thanks for reminding me of that!

(Hilarious to imagine anyone thinking of Björn as Grandpa, though. Or for that matter Björn thinking of himself as Grandpa. I think they'll just be good pals.)

Congratulations to your daughter, and congratulations to you, Grandma! What a blessing.

She's due July 12. And she's coming here for a week at the end of January, so I'll get to see a little bit of a pregnant belly.

Oh, how lovely! (and you're right, how bittersweet). I'm thinking you need to start working on the move Michelle & family to Sweden on the family visa program!

I'm afraid Michele would rather eat dead bugs every day than move to Sweden!

Really? Every day? Like, for the rest of her life? I find that HIGHLY DOUBTFUL! :P

Every single day. Big fat juicy wormy ones, black hard-shelled crunchy ones, flying wingy ones. Every single day. Just because it would be the only way she could avoid living in Sweden.

But don't believe me. She'll be along soon enough herself to tell us the truth.

Speaking of eating, would sushi in December be a remote possibility?

Yes, it is wonderful. You can now imagine how your own pregnancy has been interesting to me at this time in my life. :-)
