Well. Thanks. Now I'll be up until 4am, balled up in the fetal position and shivering for fear that the Snapdragon Seedpods are RIGHT OUTSIDE THE DOOR(!!!).
Some of the strangest and most interesting flowers I've seen recently were at an orchid show down in London put on by the Royal Horticultural Society. They had the standard show orchids on display, which were certainly pretty to look at but nothing unexpected. But they also had these strange rare wild variations that were not quite like anything I'd seen before - they had evolved in very specific ways in order to collect rain and get to the sun, and some of the results were fascinating.
... and they are wretchedly wailing "Mankind WAS my business. The common welfare was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence, were all my business. The dealings of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business! AAAAOOOOOUUUOOOOO!!!" ... Oh wait, that's a different book... XD XD
Re: orchids
That must have been fascinating! Is "orchid" only an umbrella name for a certain type of flower? There seems to be so many different types that look nothing like the others.
It's odd. I grew up walking to school every day. I used to always walk by a house on a corner lot that had a TON of snapdragons. I'm pretty positive that I've seen the seed pods before but I guess I've never seen them upside down so I'd never realized how much they resembled sad little skulls =D
