I have had similar dreams about driving and brakes not working properly. For me, my most common driving dream though, is just losing control of the car. I hate those dreams D:
I'm thinking the brake problems in dreams has something to do with holding myself back, holding thoughts or feelings back, suppressing emotions...
A car is like a shell around you (a "body"), so losing control of the car might symbolize fear of losing control of some external protection, your physical body, or appearances of an outer layer/countenance/air/deportment... I'm just guessing.
I think the second dream means you need to be more positive. Being positive really means beliving in yourself, having faith in yourself. You feel a sense of inferiority in dealing with a lot of people. You questioned yourself: "Can I really in the driver's seat for these people?" "Yes, you can!". From now on , you just believe this is absolutely true ---- "yes, you can!" It's appalling to see how often we are handicapped by the voice deep in our mind: "Can I really achieve this?"
The dream also means there are lot of things in your life that you feel are beyond control--fear. Meditation might help. I'm often amazed by little babies. They have no such feelings to intefere with in their life. When we grow up, some garbage just pile up in our mind. Unless we have some method to clean them up, they will continue be a heavy burden. I wish I knew how to get our minds refreshed because that's often difficult -- there are too many roadblockers

I'm not sure what the first dream means, perhaps on relationships with other people. You might want to have some friends but something bothered you, like "What if this guy happens to know me so well?" Maybe you pee in your pants when you were in kingergarden and nobody but this guy still remembers.
The other day I was playing hihe-and-seek with my daughter. She was still too little to play such tricks. She was right in front of the door and I was right behind the door. I held my breath, smiling in mind how puzzled she was. But, alas, I made a "embarasing sound" right at the moment and she turned and found me. She shouted:"Daddy fart!"
I was not really embarased. It bother me if I do it in front of audience, but I won't let it linger too long. Afterall, we are all animals.
