OK people, time to put on your thinking caps. I have a problem and it needs some creativity to solve.
I like silly insults. I’m fond of asshat, and its cousins assclown and gluteal chapeau. But it’s been starting to bother me that most of my favorite, really colorful Internet insults are misogynistic. And when I say they’re misogynistic it’s because they include references to ladyparts (twatwaffle) or feminine hygiene products (douchecanoe). As if being associated with the female gender is a bad thing. This is right up there with calling a man a “pussy” or as some of my friends say, “Sally.” The way you insult a man is to call him a woman.
And that’s wrong because being a woman is not an insulting or inferior state.
So I think we need some new, gender-neutral, colorful insults to start slinging around the Internet. And I’d love it if we could come up with something that’s as wonderfully silly as twatwaffle (which I adore) but without the anti-woman bias.
[Yes, I was reading Presidential debate commentary (from both sides) over on Facebook. Why do you ask?]
Whattdya think? Any ideas? Put on your thinking caps and report back. The sillier the better, because remember, we want to be mocking the person we’re insulting, not the female gender. (ETA - Or the male gender for that matter.) Once we come up with a couple of good ones, we’ll have to start seeding them around the Internet and see if we can get them to catch on.
