1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before? Um. Um. Er. Iiii. Befriended a gay Brazilian. Seriously, I did a lot of things.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I kept two! I (a) saw a Broadway-ish play (Little Women) and (2) commented more on my LJ. And yes because I love New Year's Resolutions to degree of sadness.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Do bryonyraven and heather916 count?

4. Did anyone close to you die? Papa.

5. What countries did you visit? Absolutely none. I'm your regular jetsetter.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006? Er. I'm going to say "a boyfriend" because as Rag says, boyfriends are awfully handy. But seriously, at this moment, I'm too content to really think of anything I want or need that I don't already have.

7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? July 28th, because that was the morning Papa died and it was all so strange.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Bryn Mawr, by a mile.

9. What was your biggest failure? Oh, um. I don't know. Getting a C in Chemistry? Being a good friend for longer than the person was New and Interesting to me?

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? I chipped my kneecap! Falling out of a car! Whee.

11. What was the best thing you bought? Errrr. Ah. sdjfl;dskjad. My little black Homecoming dress which has yet to be worn anywhere.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Regina Spektor, for putting out a new album?

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? COOKIE YOU DISGUSTING SPECIMEN OF A BOY. TORI AMOS IS NOT LIKE KELLY CLARKSON, I DO NOT WANT TO READ YOUR BADLY-WRITTEN DANNY PHANTOM SLASHFIC, AND THOSE LEATHER PANTS DO NOT LOOK GOOD ON YOU.

14. Where did most of your money go? Nowhere, actually.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? College, A Separate Peace, Regina Spektor.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006? Fidelity by Regina Spektor.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier, but also sadder. It's complicated. Last year I was, I don't know, definitely younger. Not that I'm Old and Wise now, just that I'm older.
ii. thinner or fatter? Rather fatter, but working on it!
iii. richer or poorer? Yay babysitting.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Read. Written. Sang. Er. Worked on teaching myself the piano?

19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Been a horrible friend to someone who, in the end, doesn't really deserve it.

20. How did you spend Christmas? In my mother's room, hiding from my cousin.

22. Did you fall in love in 2006? Hard to say. I think, yes.

23. How many one-night stands? None. Really.

24. What was your favorite TV program? The Office! Project Runway! Gilmore Girls!

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? ...Tom Cruise?

26. What was the best book you read? Definitely A Separate Peace.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Oh, you know the answer. Regina Spektor of course. But also Tori Amos and Fiona Apple and Rufus Wainwright and stop smirking like that icecreamkiller, it's unbecoming.

28. What did you want and get? Into the best college in the history of ever.

30. What was your favorite film of this year? Amelie. It just doesn't get old.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I was seventeen and I went to dinner with Kristina and Sara.

32. What is one thing that would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? The whole lack of emo might have been nice.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005? Definitely much less "Hm well that's in my closet, I should wear it" than before. I learned too much from Seventeen and Project Runway.

34. What kept you sane? Mystic, Rag, Abbey (yes, I don't know how either), Greenie, MSN chats, poetry, music, books.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Regina Spektor is the answer x3!

36. What political issue stirred you the most? The Darfur genocide, and also somehow Lance Bass coming out.

37. Who did you miss? Meghan.

38. Who was the best new person you met? Rag!

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005: Happiness is a warm puppy. Er, in other words, the simple things are there so you can be happy but you have to stop feeling sorry for yourself and notice them.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
I write you a letter
I hope you feel better
I hope you'll forgive my transgressions
I've given you love and I've given you anger as well
And I meant them both
- "A Cannon" by Regina Spektor

You know, it's odd, but this year really isn't just one year in my mind. It's split into two--before the summer and after. I mean, you'd expect that of me because I'm still in school, but the beginning of this year was radically different from the beginning. Those are two different Brittneys. Different friends, different beliefs, different senses of humor, different dreams--each just completely removed from the other. It's odd thinking back to the beginning of this year because for me this year really began in June, July. All of that before seems so long ago.
