How long could you survive on your own in the wild?

At least five minutes. Maybe longer.

In Canada they teach you, "You have to remember that the wilderness is out there. And it's trying to kill you, all of the time."

BTW, my satellite provider is giving me a free trial of a channel called "Silver Screen" which is all old movies. I've recorded The Outlaw and The Curse of the Cat People. Yay! Never had a chance to see either.

They don't teach you that enough in Australia. The Australian wilderness kills you because it looks so empty and innocuous. We don't have bears. We have tiny tiny little creatures like the blue-ringed octopus. It's about two inches across, and kills you within minutes. Or the stonefish, which just looks like a very small rock. But step on it and you're dead.

The Curse of the Cat People is a very strange but very good movie! It has very little in common with the earlier Cat People, but in its own way it's just as good.
