the voyage home begins

I cried a tiny bit as the train pulled out from the station, and I looked back over the downtown area which was entirely grey, and didn't look like anything I should miss at all. But then the conductor made the announcement that he was coming through to collect tickets, so I stopped. I'm good like that.

I have an accent, but not a regional one--neither of my folks do, and I never lived in one area of the US for long enough to develop one. (Before we came back to Indiana when I was just out of high school, the longest I'd ever lived in one place was four years.) I really don't sound like I'm from Indiana, even to other Hoosiers. (There's a standard Midwestern accent, but down here on the Kentucky line, a lot of us drawl a bit. I don't.)
