how can I find out what kind of RAM my computer uses? I wrote it down somewhere...somewhere I can't find!

I'd like to know the speed and all that.

Turn off your PC and open the case. Try to find some writing on the motherboard to tell you what make & model it is. Google it and read the manual for it if you can find one.

Failing that, take out one of your existing RAM sticks and write down every number on it. Google those and maybe it'll tell you. Heck, there might even be a sticker right on your existing RAM telling you what kind it is.

When I needed to know this, the ram vendor websites had tools I could run from thier site to know this....

you can always boot into the bios and check there. the memory is usually detailed out in there (plus you don't have to open the case)
