Thanks so much! And yes, with a name like his, poor HH really had to get a nickname.

Wow, that's kinda wickedly cool, even if my brain did go "whu?" at Bush sounding so completely New York. (Though, I don't know if Couldn't you do that at hospital? was a typo where you forgot the "a" before hospital or not.) Very cool AU, and very intriguing.

(I've had the tab open for, uh, days now and finally had a chance to read...)

WOAH. WOAH!

I am totally weirded out and insanely fascinated by this. The transfer to NY!Bush is a bit of a jolt, but then what was I expecting in a firefighter AU? :D But I love how you write it. It's amazing how a change of universe permits a whole other style and it's brilliant. That bitch Lydia, the stream of consciousness, the KISS - oh my god the kiss and that face cream UST beforehand - the gay-not-gayness of the friendship status... and the weaving in of the actual, you know, STORYLINE is great too. I can't wait to read the next chapters.

Thanks muchly! Yes, for all that I worried about getting certain bits just right, there were bits in this that I enjoyed, even if as you say the style is more E. A. Proulx than C. S. Forester.

I hope to get more done in this AU, though, like canon, it may appear out of chronological order from the characters' point of view.
