The first 1/3rd of season 3 was really annoying, but once you get past that, it get really good again; better than the early stuff, I think.
Part of the problem with season 3 was that at the start of it, they didn't know how long the show was expected to go; so there was a lot of killing time until they got the ABC execs to agree to a six season target. Once that happens, things really get moving. They've started explaining and wrapping things up by now, and it doesn't seem too outlandish. You know, within the context of scifi shows and such.
And I think there's only the one form of time travel ;-).
