Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level

Apparently a lower score is better, simple sentences, clearer vocabulary and so forth. Last time (December 2006) I got grade 12.

No, a higher score is better. More complex sentences and words, not assuming your audience has Teh Dumb.

It can however be a bit opaque. Your meaning is less than clear. Anyway aren't you a fan of Doc Smith? I don't think he was known for elaborate prose....

By today's standards, though, he used some more than two-dollar words, with the obdurately resisting wall-shields repelling the furiously-driven primary beams in a blaze of coruscating polychromatic refulgence.
