This site, albeit in German, has a pic of it in color. Not really a detail shot, though. http://www.ndr.de/land_leute/norddeutsche_gesichter/kaiserkroenung100.html

There's a book that's listed as a catalog detail of the 2009 exhibition of "Otto IV - Dream of Guelph Empire" with 300 color images in it. I have no idea if it's in there, but here's the book info: Braunschweigisches Landesmuseum - Niedersächsische Landesmuseen Braunschweig (Hrsg.) Otto IV. Traum vom welfischen Kaisertum, Petersberg, Imhof Verlag 2009, ISBN 978-3-86568-500-1 (Niedersächsische Landesausstellung 2009). I found it at: http://www.ottoiv.de/index.php?cPage=0&sPage=0&wWidth=1600&wHeight=740

Good luck! :)

yep, that's the link I found.

Don't have money to buy books since I'm not working.

I've seen these. The ones I have in my book are only "slightly" better. They are just too old and not detailed to figure out what is going on with the embroidery. I "think" it's underside couching, but not 100% sure. is is padded with non-metallic stitches underneath? Are the detail lines just places where there is no embroidery and the background fabric is showing thru? or is it embroidered in a different color? So many questions where if I just had one decent modern color close up photo would answer...
