As regards this slice of the internets, I have been, as they say, on hi-YAY-tus. All things must come to an end, however, and this hi-YAY-tus is no exception. Me, I'm just amazed that in six months I managed to forget how to post new entries. Either that, or the process has changed since I last attempted to post one. Anyway, I now have a room ( Read more... )

I don't know if I'm quite ecstatic yet, but I'm getting there. Livejournal is fun. When other people use it, that is. :-P

Welcome back, brother.

I would like to find more playgrounds that require instructions... i think I am more entertained when I don't understand how to use the equipment. I wonder if back when we were young kids, a group of 18 and 19 year olds went to our playgrounds and couldn't figure out the playscapes. Which brings me to a scarier question... have we merely forgotten how to play?

As I've gotten older, more and more of the playgrounds I used to enjoy as a little kid have been ripped out and replaced with new, "safe" play structures. I always thought the new structures were much less fun than the old ones, but it's also possible that I just don't know what to do with them, having already "forgotten how to play" by the time they were built. The little kids who play at them now don't seem to realize what they're missing. Regardless, Butcher Park in Warren remains one of my all-time favorite childhood memories, and now it just isn't the same. Too much plastic. Plastic is the scourge of civilized society. I need to get some sleep.
