Gakked this from Cairi and Suzll. I'm using all LotR fics, since that's the muse I'm currently trying to bring back to life.

Gosh okay, this has reminded me that "A Scion of Earendil's House" was one of those fics that I read on my phone, loved to bits, but then never commented on because commenting on a phone is next to impossible :P. But that has been one of your stories that's stayed with me the most--I love how you line up the family dynamics, and especially how you point to Elrond taking after his mother rather than his father. It seems very fitting to me.

And the Aragorn-in-Harad epic has left me very intrigued!

:D Thank you!

I really want to get the Harad epic written, but it's happening in fits and starts, and my grad school schedule is seriously Not Helping.

Aaaaaah... so much goodness in this post. *happy sigh*

Your Strider in Splintered Reflections is soooo perfectly mysterious. I need to reread that whole piece; it's been too long and the details have faded enough that it will feel new again.

But, he was free in a wild place and he had a trail to follow.

See, this is what I love about your writing: you have the uncanny ability to pare down a character description to its barest essentials. For all it's quiet brevity, that line just screams Aragorn.

"The Sealed Letter" is such a good, intriguing story.

And aaaaaauuugh.... all the angst in your Elrond scene is so good for the fact that it's understated. Angst is hard to get right--I have this annoying tendency to make it all overblown and melodramatic, but it's good to remember that Less is More.

Aww, thanks!

I miss having the kind of creative energy that inspired "Splintered Reflection." I like to think I'm a better writer now, but I was so . . . unconstrained back then. Oh well. I am trying to implement the Less is More philosophy, but it's hard and sometimes I just want to write big, overblown angst. I feel like there's times when you can write that and it works great, but other times when spare writing pays off. It's a balancing act.
