In case you haven't heard, a Jem and the Holograms live-action movie is in the works. And the film makers are scouting FANS to work on things like casting and costuming. Naturally, one would assume that this will lead to either total AWESOMENESS, or a complete and utter trainwreck of a film (either way, it'll be entertaining LOL

I also didn't learn about this show until I was an adult. I discovered it via a bootleg VHS at a convention. LOL
