Artistic impact....

So...a while back I made a tribute post to Carl Steven (the actor who played Freddy in A Pup Named Scooby Doo). Turns out he died in 2011 at the age of 37. Finding out that a guy with so much talent (he helped re-define Fred's character when he was only 12-years-old) died so young made me very sad. So I thought it would be nice to post something to ( Read more... )

Wow, I guess this just shows even the smallest of kind gestures can mean the world to other people.

It's still said he died so young. It's like when I found out a few years ago that Lorenzo Music (who played Garfield, Tummi from Gummi Bears and Peter from Real Ghostbusters) passed away in 2001. It's always sad when you see these voice actors you love as a kid pass away. At least they can leave behind these great legacies for future kids to enjoy.

Yeah. This will definitely make me think more carefully before posting certain things.

I'm just glad I was able to make his mother happy. Though part of me worries that I might start crying next time I watch a Pup Named Scooby Doo episode.

Oh gosh. I remember being so bummed when I found out Lorenzo Music was gone. Those Garfield specials were a HUGE part of my childhood and I just can't accept any other actors in that role (and it doesn't help that all of the Garfield reboots suck hardcore anyway :P).

You put something heartfelt out there, chances are good it'll reach its intended but unknown target. I had a sort of similar situation when a local t.v. personality was retiring from his show, I made a post about having met him and being sad he was leaving. He actually responded to my post! o_O It is sort of scary how easily accessible our words/works can be when it seems like no one is looking, but at the same time great when it gets a positive response.

Yeah. This really shouldn't have surprised me. A while back, I made an AMV using audio from an indie movie and one of the movie's actors found it and commented on it. It actually freaked me out a bit because I never imagined my little LJ page could ping anyone's radar who didn't already know me. XD

I'm just relieved that his mother liked the tribute and honored that she took the time to let me know. I can never imagine the pain she's gone through; but I like to think that it helps to know that her son can still inspire people with the work he left behind.
