Title: A Mended Friendship and the Start of Something New
Part 3 of "That One Night"
I smiled and hugged her again. "Thank you. Oh I forgot all about my kids. I gotta go get them from Susan's house."
"You want me to come with you?"
"That'd be great."
We walked over to Susan's house. I knocked on the door and heard my kids inside yelling. Julie answered the door. "Mrs. Scavo...come in."
I walked in with Bree right behind me. "Where's Susan?"
"Mom!!"
I saw Susan come in from the living room. "Lynette are you okay?"
I smiled softly. "Never better." She walked over and hugged me. Then I asked, "Were my boys too much trouble?"
"Let's just say they weren't angels." She said and chuckled lightly.
I smiled and got Penny. "Okay, boys lets go. Say bye bye to aunt susan." My boys waved good-bye to Susan and headed out the door with me and Bree. "Did you boys do your homework?" I asked once we got inside.
They all said, "Yeah"
"Okay. You boys can play while I order some pizza. Is that alright with everyone?" The boys just started jumping up and down. "Okay, try not to make a mess, please." They ran off and started playing. I sighed, it was so quiet without them here. I got the phone and picked it up, "Bree, you want any?"
"Oh no thank you."
"Okay." I ordered the pizza and sat on the couch to wait for it. I told Bree to join me. She of course did. "So how have you been Bree?"
She smiled her fake smile, "I have been fine."
I looked at her and said, "You don't have to put on that fake smile for me Bree. I can see right through it."
She frowned slightly. "I have no idea what you are talking about."
"Fine, I'll drop the subject." We were silent for a few minutes, but I couldn't take it any more. I had to break the silence, "You want some coffee?"
"Yes, thank you."
"Okay," I got up and went into the kitchen to start the coffee. Just as I did the pizza came. "Bree could you start the coffee while I get the door?"
She said, "Sure"
I went to answer the door and payed for the pizza. I set the table and put a piece of pizza on a plate for each of the boys. Bree and I took our coffee to the living room and I put Penny in her crib. Soon the boys were done eating and I got them ready for bed with Bree's help.
After we were done with that we sat down on the couch and got some more coffee. "I'm glad we're friends again."
"Me too." She took a sip of her coffee and looked at me. She just continued to stare at me. I began to feel a bit nervous.
"Bree?"
She shook her head a few times, then said, "Yes?"
"Is something the matter?"
"Umm....No. Why do you ask?"
"You just looked sorta dazed out and were staring me."
"Oh my god, I was staring?"
"Yeah." Then I saw her blushing. "Bree? Do you still have feelings for me?" I asked softly. She nodded shyly. My heart started pumping faster. I moved closer to her and took her hands in mine. "Well thats good, because I still have feelings for you." I saw her face light up at my statement. "And soon, I will be a free woman." I felt kinda bad for talking about being single just after my husband had asked for a divorce. He had hurt me...and now it's my turn to be happy...screw him. I leaned in and placed my lips on Bree's and she responded softly.
Then, she pulled away. She shyly said, "Can we go upstairs?"
