TEN BOTTLES OF WINE
There were ten bottles of wine. Lynette had counted twice, just to make sure she was counting correctly. Ten wasn’t a hard number to count to, but to drink that much wine was something of a trick.
Lynette was no slouch when it came to drinking. In her hay day she could put away a six pack on her own. Hell she had once drunk a group of frat boys under the table. No it wasn’t the number that confused her.
Ten bottles of wine in a week. Lynette knew it was a week because Bree had always been very good at bringing out the garbage. She had complained that time the garbage men went on strike. Even then, every Tuesday she brought her garbage out. So Lynette was quite sure that Bree had put away ten bottles in a week.
Lynette knew she should have been mad at Bree for losing her kids, and she was. In fact she was pissed off at Bree, but that didn’t mean that Bree wasn’t her friend. Bree had always been the best friend that Lynette had ever had. And on the days she as being completely honest with herself, she would admit that they were a little more then friends. As to how much more, she was never that honest with herself.
Bree had a problem, she was sure of it now. She just didn’t know what to do about it. Bree wasn’t about to listen to her now.
She sighed as she took one last look at Bree’s stoop.
Ten bottles of wine.
All lined up in a pretty row.
