Praise the lord I thoroughly enjoyed that. Really refreshing in many ways. Well done, Show. I feel all kinds of semi-maternal pride.

i also found it really interesting in terms of felicia day's image. she's worked hard to establish her geek girl cred, and this character is really similar to the one she plays in the guild (so i think part of why she was awesome goes to felicia's credit or the writers had the good sense to go with what has worked for felicia before). i loved that she was gay. thank you, spn :D

Oh yeah, for sure. This is very clearly a case of writing a character around a stroke of casting luck. But I also think they did a really get job integrating her in the SPN verse, esp. considering the writer is new. "kick it in the ass" was a stroke of brilliance.

That really made me smile. I love that they still honor Kim like that every chance they get. :)

I think she's one of the first young female characters I have liked on the show but that has nothing to do with her sexual orientation for me. It has more to do with her not being objectified and immediately cast as either tough and nails or damsel in distress. Also, for once, she was a female character who interacted equally with both boys and there was no sexual tension or innuendo between them. That, to me, was refreshing. It also feels like TPTB might be trying to redeem the geeky fangirl stereotype which they handled so badly with Becky.

Yes, I agree esp re: Becky. Though considering this has a lot to do with Felicia Day, and the writer is new, I'm not sure the show is completely redeemed. Seems more like fresh blood brought in new ideas.

For me her sexuality does have something to do with it. I think her being a lesbian made it a lot easier for them not to have any sexual tension. Also, I just really like seeing lesbians who aren't stereotyped or hyper-sexualized on TV. Like, I could actually see myself in her without being insulted!
