I need to respond to comments on Bones, but first: I finally saw Star Trek tonight. Awesome movie, loved it, possibly more things to say later, but for now, one thing to say ( Read more... )

Wait, I think it's the guy who played his father who's playing Thor. Unless IMDb is wrong, which isn't unimaginable. Though, spot-on casting: dead ringers for each other, George and Jim Kirk. Both wickedly hot, of course. :P

Hee! :D

I never thought about it back when I was watching reruns of TNG, but the whole revitalizing-movie-thing tends to get rid of the ridiculousness and things that don't make sense. What, do the girls never need to fight? Or fly out of spacecraft at the edge of the atmosphere toward the planet's surface in freefall? Dumb. (They could've even kept them by making that the dress uniform with something more practical for actual deployment.)

LMAO... you needed to have seen him in other productions to ease into the full facial dialogue without the resulting hearing loss.

And Bones was WIN (my dad absolutely LOVES his portrayal, helps that my dad LOVES the actor) and Chekhov, HEE, I remember when he was a wee lass on the Speilberg miniseries "Taken". ;)

As for the skirts? Did you NOT get the memo? You change an outfit at ALL and the fandom for whom you are creating will lynch you. ;)

Wait, you mean I needed to train for this movie? Oops. :P What should I have seen, you know, so I'll be better next time? (I swear I have no ulterior motives for this question. None at all.)

Oh, he was great. I frequently prefer the funny snarky best friend to the hero of the movie (see: National Treasure, in which I like Riley better than all the other characters combined), so it wasn't surprising that I loved him, but still!

Haha, true. I think they should've made it the dress uniform with something a little more practical for when they, you know, need to dive out of planes toward a planet's surface from just within the atmosphere. :D

But did we ever see any female crew members doing such things? These must be just their standing-around-on-the-bridge or waiting-to-be-deployed outfits. Not that I didn't also find them faintly ridiculous. One review I read said that now they've established that yes, she's Uhura, they can change the uniform in the next movie. :P

Well, I haven't seen the guy in MUCH, but there's Princess Diaries 2, and I kind of like Just My Luck, he was absolutely adorable in that.
