Not even Cordelia or Fred would always get it. Gunn and Angel certainly didn’t. Had to take everything so literally. That’s why Spike was such a delight. Verbally sparring with someone who get British humor? Wonderful.
I smile at her when she tells me Dawn is doing marvelous. Not that I ever had any doubt, she’s always been very bright. Loved books from what I recall, even if those memories were fake. To me they were real. Just as Dawn was real to her sister and those who knew her.
“Why would he do that?” I asked puzzled. “Not that I’m a fan of Watchers mind you. But you’d think Someone like Dawn would be perfect with all those new Slayers around. She could be a new kind of Watcher, the way they should be. Not some general who orders his soldier into death, but a teacher who’ll train and teach. She has an advantage over al other watcher. She knows what being a Slayer is really like in a way.”
