I saw you post your link to your review for part 1 and since I just saw Part 2 in the states, I had to see what you thought.

You definitely said a lot of what I was thinking about that last quick trip through memory lane for the Doctor. It made me sad that he wasn't going to see any of the former companions so he wasn't alone when he regenerated and they all seemed to know that he was saying "Goodbye" but weren't the slight bit curious as to why he was showing up.

Obviously Jack is still mourning or whatever since he's not back on earth but yes, I did feel like it was a bit like the Star Wars Cantina in that scene.

And the Tardis on fire...that just horrible. The Hub now the Tardis. Is nothing free from destruction by RTD?

apparently, as someone suggested, breannarose1 January 3 2010, 07:15:34 UTC
the Dr's using telepathy to explain his presence. :-}

Jack's done mourning. :( moved on to Alonzo - how convenient was that?!?

brutal. Let's see he's destroyed the Hub twice, damaged the TARDIS with the Titanic, wrote great stories that ended up being wrong, just wrong and he left the happy ending for Sarah Jane, but that ending was unfortunately a "love-fest around the TARDIS console" type of ending, an ending that I find unbearable.

so, answer to question - no, nothing RTD destruction proof. :(

I hate the bar scene.. I was so disappointed . I was kinda hoping for Ianto back (like that was going to happen_). I at least thought that last scene was going to be janto-related (accidentally saw spoilers). And now, I hate RTD even more!

actual words to have been spoken. Don't really Hate RTD but he really knows how to ruin good, potentially great, things.

I would have settled for a very drunk Jack in fight being, unknowingly, helped out by the Doctor.

like the idea of Ianto's return...the Doctor grabs him from [?!?] and gets him cured and delivers him to Ianto...Hey! I think I read that fanfic somewhere. I'll have to go & find it. tomorrow, though. It's reaaallly late now or very early. :-}

tried to find the one I was thinking of but have too many links to go through [have gone through 1/2 so far].
Used TWStoryFinder to see if someone could help and got the following link to a TeachWritesSlash fic (can't go wrong with that :).
http://teachwriteslash.livejournal.com/178127.html

There are others including the one I mentioned but to find that specific means going through jackxianto post of that last 6 months :(
I'll keep checking my request and see if other fics get listed.

They don't even talk to each other!
No: "I heard what happened. I'm sorry."
no: Jack punching the Doctor
Nothing not 1 single bit of 'here's a relationship that'll last - even if it's just friendship...
Just "There's a new fella for you, Jack." WTF!!!

To be fair, I think the context of the note did a lot of talking. The doctor inverted his treatment of Jack (always rapping him over the knuckles, before) and encouraged him instead, making it quite obvious how far the other way Jack had gone. This means Jack was having trouble even getting someone's name -- and this is Jack -- and it also shows the doc understood that, cared about that, and wanted to help. I found it very touching, a lot of power packed into something that didn't wind up very hokey ( ... )

no apology necessary. A new point of view's appreciated. The scene's less negative using your view.

Taking a step back and reviewing it again, I can see that maybe that _is_ what the scene was about.
