*What?!?..Wha?!?...god...Huurts...Wha?!?*
He was face down on cement, surrounded by *People?! There's people here?!? How far was I thrown...thrown from...from...what?!?!*
He blacks out.

He regains consciousness briefly. He's being carried. *Wha?*
"I'm taking you to A&E."
"Jack?!?" He blacks out again.

"Good afternoon!“
*Hurts*
I’m Doctor Collins. Do you remember what happened to you?”
*Huh?!? Hurts.* “Hurts.”
"It'll take awhile for the painkillers to kick in. Can you tell me your name?"
No answer. The patient's unconscious again.

When he wakes up, he’s feeling really good. No pain, no pain at all. *Woah, it’s sooo white and loud here. Not too bad a beat but the rest of the band needs works. No. no, wait. Hospital. gotta focus. Gotta think, sink, link. Heh, that rhymes. No. Gotta stink strange. Why can't I link strame? Okay. Tink. Filling. Our guys, sex in A563 to B27. E36. I90. Bingo!*** He becomes aware that someone’s in the room with him. He looks. "Hiya, Jack!"
”Hi, yourself.”
“Heh, hee, ‘yourself’. Name's Bond. James Bond. Not ‘yourself’.” He's out again.

When he's conscious again, he remembers. The Hub. The explosion. Jack! *He was here...No, that's not right. Jack's gone. Who'd do that? Why?* He keeps his eyes closed trying to relax, hoping to remember more. There's someone in the room, has been since he woke up. Ianto doesn't look though. He knows who it is. *Jack?!? Couldn't be. How long was I out?!?* There’s something else he needs to remember but can't.
“Good, you're awake and coherent. So. First things first. You were mugged and it's 1966.”
*I was mugged? No wait, that can't be right.*
“Cover story. One Torchwood didn't investigate too deeply, lucky for you. Pretty proud of it myself.”
“Mugged?!?”
“Yup. I think you can handle remembering that when asked.”
He has to remember something else, too. It was important *Why can't I remember?*
“You've been pretty doped up for some time now. I'm surprised you can string a sentence together.”
*’Course, I'm drugged…well, that explains a lot…a lot of…tired…sooo tired.* He falls asleep again

The next time he wakes up someone else is in the room. He can sense it. There’s some pain and he’s surprisingly exhausted so he falls asleep. When he wakes up he’s in even less pain but groggy. *What?..What happened? Where..* He can't form the rest of the question but a voice, which sounds surprisingly like Jack's, answers.
“You’re in the recovery ward of St. Stephen's.”The voice continues,“You're lucky it was me that found you. If anyone else had…well, let's just leave it at you being lucky because I gotta tell ya - mobile phones haven't been invented yet.”
*SHIT!* He's out cold again.
- END -

Chapter 2 Ok. That's it. Part 1 [teaser?!?] posted. Let me know if I've done this correctly or not, please. Also, I had typed this in MS Word (mistake, I know) and saved as RTF and ended up with a lot of junk code that needed to deleted or replaced. Can I trouble someone to, please, direct me to a "how-to" page? I want to do this as easily and correctly as possible. I'd also like to make the text size larger.
1st time writer here so, please, leave feedback.
If you ever watched classic Dr Who, I got the idea for this story from there.
I live in the US so only familiar with Britspeak from watching shows on local PBS and, of course, Torchwood.
I thought this would be a simple 3-part story but now I'm not sure. I'm posting this first and the next 2 parts as they're as close to complete as I can get.{see request for feedback above :-} Not sure when/if I'll get to next sections, though.
