Anything worth doing in LA?

So I've had an interesting opportunity arise! I've gotten a modeling engagement in Los Angeles where they are paying for my trip. I will be out in the city next week from Monday to Friday, and I've even gotten an additional job for while I'm out there ( Read more... )

The LA County Museum of Art is exceptionally lovely and has film screenings where ludicrously famous people sometimes just show up. It's where I has the pleasure of meeting Mel Brooks.

Do you like garlic? You simply have to make it to the Stinking Rose on La Cienega Blvd. Amazing restaurant with things like "40 Clove Garlic Chicken."

I've been told "pretty central to LA proper," in the 90025 area code. I know how huge CA is, but I've no idea what the area is like or what it's close to!

Well, it looks like the Landmark Nuart Theater is in that zip code. I spent many a night there at the Rocky Horror Picture Show. The shadowcast there is great, if that is your thing ( ... )

I concur with "rent a car".

The La Brea tar pits are a neat idea, if you're into that sort of thing.

Mostly I found LA to suck but I did a lot of eating out there, so I have restaurant recommendations for sushi, chili, Indian, etc.

Not to be negative, but have you checked into both the source of the offer and the people you'd be working with? Like independent verification/recommendations? Flying a new model in to a city that's already pretty close to saturation with pretty girls looking for work is a little unusual and describing the location in terms of an area code sounds warning bells in my head. LA is the center of a lot of cool stuff, but it's also home to some pretty shady people too. Be safe.

Hi again, this has been on my mind, and I wanted to +1 the concerns this fine poster has mentioned. LA is chock-full of starlets and models, it seems fishy to expend the money to fly in talent from across the country. Please be careful.
