Had one of the nicest weekends I've had in quite some time. Saturday I went to Newport, RI to meet aurora_knight and have a great time walking around through the city. That was a great trip. I'd never been there before, but I knew it was a pretty town by the sea where lots of Gilded Age millionaires built their summer homes. We went on a tour of two of the

Fun fact: My mother used to be a merchant marine based out of Newport, and would take jobs sailing rich people's boats and yachts to Bermuda and the Keys for them. xD So I spent a LOOOT of time in Newport as a kid.

Also, if you go down a bit further past the main harbors, there are these gorgeous rocky, cliffside beaches that are absolutely breathtaking. And that you can swim at!

(My father has also told me that my aunt AJ once seriously dated the son of a French family that owned one of the Newport mansions, but that his family broke them up. SCANDAL.)
