Grateful

It is incredibly hard for me to ask for help, from anyone, with anything. I feel like if I have a problem, especially if it's my own fault I have that problem, it's my responsibility to fix it. I hate to be irresponsible, or weak, or incapable, and I hate to impose on or take anything from anyone else. I get ashamed when there are witnesses to my ( Read more... )

We choose to help because we know some day you'll be able to help us with something. Or you'll in some other way do something nice for us. Like organizing a larp con.

Friends do for each other.

Can you do me, yourself, and Bernie a huge favor and send these sentiments his way ASAP? We were all very happy to help you, and did not think less of you for a moment for needing our help. That was simply not any person's one-person job.

It's not that simple. I told him I was grateful for his effort. But he decides what's best for me all the time, regardless of what he knows I want. It's patronizing and paternalistic, and that's what I had the problem with.

Happy to help. I know you could have handled it yourself, given enough time, but these things are more fun and get done faster when you team up.
