Wow, no comments yet? Maybe all the USA people are enjoying Labor Day. :)

Anyway, there was a lot of discussion last night about whether Hank finding the Whitman was too easy, illogical, etc. What do you think?

Well, it definitely was foreshadowed. And Walter's failing has always been his pride, his belief that since he's very smart, he will always out-think and outmaneuver anyone around him. So leaving a book with an incriminating dedication to him would be a mistake he'd indeed make.

A theory I read today was that the worst thing that could happen to Walt is to die without anyone knowing what a master criminal he really was (in his own mind). And if he indeed did get bad news from the MRI, maybe he did it on purpose, consciously or unconsciously.

Wow, that's a great theory. I do think that Walt leaving the book around was too sloppy, but if he did it because he subconsciously wants to be caught... We've seen before that he's jealous of Walt Jr's hero worship of Hank, and IMO it must sting that Hank will be the children's father figure when he (Walt) dies.
One reviewer pointed out something I really like: Gale has gotten revenge from beyond the grave.
I'm excited to see how Hank will proceed. Will he realize that Skylar is laundering Walt's money in the carwash? Will he confide in Marie?

This was a huge. Delicate but huge.

Breaking Bad was always about the details since forever so I found very good what Vince did.

Since the beginning I always said over and over again, Hank and Skyler are the only one in the actual scenario that can beat Walt. These next 8 episodes are going to be a crusade, Hank is very patient, smart and he'll be very touched by the fact that Walt fooled him all this time so his revenge is going to be super massive. For sure, it's going to be like it was on Mike's crusade where one of them is going to die because after Hank find out all of this they can't phisically cohabitate in the same universe.

Just a note, I think Skyler took very easy the whole I quit from Walt. I'm not convinced.

I do wonder if Skyler siding with Walt (maybe even realizing Hank suspects something?) will be the lynchpin in his downfall. Sure, they look happy in the final scene, but how much is an act?

Skyler is very smart to go for this.

And if she knows that Hank knows, she'll be on his "side". No doubt on that.

Oops, I did mean to put Skyler siding with *Hank*. I really wish for some version of this, for sure!

Hank's going to have to build a very strong case. I don't know if he'll confide in Marie or anyone else. He'll probably be on his own for this one. It will definitely strain his relationship with Walt. Hank will anaylze every conversation and interaction they have from now on. Will Walt suspect anything is amiss?

This final battle is looking like it'll be Hank vs. Walt.

It's going to be a shitstorm.

Oh yeah. It will really be a chess match, and it can only be epic.

Walt is "retired", but I heard of a theory that he's gotten Todd up to speed to the point where he can basically step back and let the operation run without his intervention. Because he's no longer active, Hank will try to catch Walter out somehow and be unable to get a clear-cut yes or no.

Meanwhile, Walter will pick up that something's changed - maybe suspect the truth - but he won't know for sure and get more guarded and cagey as time goes on.

And Hank going after Jesse again would look like nursing a grudge, so he'd have to stay hands-off with Jesse, even if he makes the connection to the RV and the fake call re: Marie.

*rubs hands excitedly*

I was initially a little underwhelmed, because I was convinced either Jesse or Skyler would die in this. Having had time to get over the lack of BIG CHARACTER DEATH, I really really enjoyed the scenes where the 9 guys in prison were slaughtered, the conversation between Walt and Lydia and also the scene with the massive pile of cash.

And of course, Hank finding the book is a huge deal. But it's a million miles away from being able to tie everything together. I think because the previous 2 episodes had everything going drastically wrong in the last few seconds, I expected something even bigger here. Still enjoyed it a lot though.
