Yet another full moon at the mansion! This was going to be completely normal, right? A certain mansion-appropriate version of normal, anyway. Right? That was what Mike was hoping for, although his optimism had been waning lately, for a few reasons

One difference between this Stiles and the old one was that he knocked a couple times before letting himself inside. "Hey, Mike."

"Thanks," Stiles said with a smile. "You're being much nicer about this than everybody else."

Mike offered up a faint smile and shrugged a shoulder. "I think I just have less at stake." In some ways. "Also, way less to be stressed out about tonight."

"Don't worry about it," he said. "If Derek gets out of control I can take him."

Jack raised an eyebrow. "They don't even expect me to knock anymore," he commented. (Mike and Derek were the luckiest housemates ever.) "Good morning."

"I'm not exactly a local here." Not to this dimension anyway. "And hi."

That garnered a concerned look. "Are you and Derek fighting?"

Oh god. Romantic issues. Save him.

Stiles lifted his eyebrows. "Noooot that I know of. Seems to be pretty annoyed I'm not his Stiles though. Like I can help that."

"You're not--"

Jack caught a scent, inhaled sharply. His eyes were sharper when they met Stiles' again. Nothing personal, just new werewolf SOP.

"These changes really have to stop," he said, half to himself.

"Well thanks." He was tired of people reacting to him like that and it had been like three days.

"Anytime," Jack said, nonplussed. "So, how long have you been a wolf? And do you still know me?"

"I've been one for two years. An alpha for almost one," he said. "And, yeah, I know all of you. I'm just not as close to you as the other Stiles was."

Jack could not totally avoid the passing thought that he wished his type of werewolf came with alpha status. That would make it much easier not to feel insecure in a situation like this.

"That's fine," he said crisply. "We don't need to be best friends. We just need to all stay alive until you can go home."

"You really think it's that serious?" he asked. "I mean it's Fandom. I mean I know why Derek's freaking out but that's Derek."

"I think it's --"

Jack hesitated and ran a hand back through his hair. "Okay, that might have been dramatic. But shutting ourselves up in a basement when Derek's upset, and I don't know this version of you, and Derek just got new powers -- I'd be an idiot not to worry about those things clashing together in some very bad way. Even if Fandom takes death off the table."

"Well I'm not going to be in the basement, I'll be on the couch." He was in control of himself, thank you. "And Derek's upset because he misses me. The other me. We're not going to clash."
