Yet another full moon at the mansion! This was going to be completely normal, right? A certain mansion-appropriate version of normal, anyway. Right? That was what Mike was hoping for, although his optimism had been waning lately, for a few reasons

"Stiles isn't the one we know," Derek said on his way to the kitchen. Because that was how you got that all out in the open.

Aren't you glad he warned you now, Mike?

Weirdly enough, Mike was not instantly reassured or anything. Actually, he looked up, confused. Maybe even a tiny bit alarmed.

"What? What do you mean?"

"Apparently he's a werewolf now." Be more surly, Derek.

"What."

He'd already said that, hadn't he? Just in general, he found himself saying that much more than he would have liked.

"How?"

One difference between this Stiles and the old one was that he knocked a couple times before letting himself inside. "Hey, Mike."

It was a pretty small difference, but considering people at worst came in right through the door (Kitty), it was one Mike noticed.

Also, having been warned Stiles was going to be different probably played into it too.

"Did you just knock?"

"Um yeah?" Stiles said, not finding that too weird. "What, is this some alternate universe where knocking is illegal?"

Mike shook his head. "Nah, I'm just not used to it, 's all." He shrugged. "People tend to kind of come and go at their will."

"Hi there," Jack said, letting himself in. He was still worried about Derek's first night as an alpha, but he reasoned all he could do is take that one as he came.

Which led him to his other critical concern: "I want pizza. Does anyone else?"

"Yes." Wait, Mike was probably supposed to say something else there too. "Please. I think pizza might significantly improve this evening."

Not that he was expecting everything to be terrible otherwise, but, you know.

"It's only Derek's first night as an Alpha," Jack said, pulling put his phone to place the pizza order. "What could possibly go wrong?"

That was sarcasm, not a head injury.

"Mm-hmm." Yeah, that was the best Mike could manage to that. There was so much that could go wrong. So much. "Have you heard from Jackson?"
