I can't believe I did another one of these

So yeah, I promised myself that I wouldn't do another picspam for this challenge but for some reason, this idea wouldn't leave me alone. GTWT is like the most iconic movie ever so a recasting picspam might be a little controversial.

This movie should never be remade but it's kind of fun to see who might've played these roles if the movie was being made today. Honestly, if they ever want to touch this story again, they should do a giant-ass miniseries that covers all corners of the novel. Cause as much as I loved the movie, the book is still my favorite. Although I'm not even sure this movie could be made today because it's not exactly racially sensitive or politically correct. I would definitely at least cut out the Prissy character and absolutely that entire KKK subplot.

Since the original went with a British actress to play the iconic Southern Belle, why not do it again? Emily Blunt meets all the physical requirements for Scarlett, is also about the right age and she's shown that she can play strong and fiery women. I thought of maybe Keira Knightley at first but I honestly can't see her playing such a bitchy character. Keira's better at the intelligent but caring Elizabeth Bennett role anyways.

This is the most difficult role to cast for sure. I know everyone thinks George Clooney is the new Clark Gable but I just don't think he's right for this part. Johnny Depp, I think, can pretty much do anything. I know Depp isn't really interested in playing this kind of conventional romantic role but if he wanted to, he could do it. He has the right look (maybe gain a little muscle mass), the on-screen magnetism and acting chops to pull it off.

Ashley Wilkes is the one character that I felt was completely miscast in the movie. Leslie Howard was just too old to play this part and didn't have enough charisma to make it believable that Scarlett would spend years pining after him. Ashley is like the plantation golden boy. He's handsome, charming and generally a guy everyone likes. He marries his sweet-natured cousin Melanie while Scarlett remains madly in love with him for a good two decades. Chris Evans is not the strongest actor out there but he has conventional good looks and good on-screen charisma, which is basically all you need for Ashely Wilkes.

Melanie Wilkes is the woman Ashley marries and while Scarlett pines after Ashley over the years, she develops a strong bond with Melanie regardless. Melanie is the foil to Scarlett, a perfectly sweet Southern lady in contrast to Scarlett's selfish and tempestuous nature. Romola Garai just has a nice girl quality to her and her role in Vanity Fair was rather similar to this character.

Mammy is the O'Hara's houseslave who is like a mother to Scarlett. She never hesitates to call Scarlett on her bullshit but at the same time, she recognizes that she is still the servant even after becoming a free person. Who else but Monique could play this part today? The woman clearly has the talent.

Gerald and Ellen are Scarlett's parents. Gerald is an Irish immigrant while Ellen is of French ancestry. Also there is a significant age difference between the two so I think Liam and Nicole would be great for these parts.

Careen and Suellen are Scarlett's two younger sisters. Suellen is very selfish and fiery, though very jealous of Scarlett while Careen is very sweet and gentle (in the book, she eventually becomes a nun). Bryce, I think, would be great as that spoiled immature sister while Natalie just has a sweetness in her.

Charles is Melanie's brother, basically an overeager dorky boy who somehow nabs a girl who's totally out of his league, which is like every character Michael Cera has ever played! Plus, I think there's a crazy resemblance between them. Scarlett only marries him to make Ashley jealous and of course, he doesn't exactly live past the first half hour anyways.

Frank Kennedy is Scarlett's second husband whom she marries for his money so she can keep Tara. He's a good-hearted but unambitious man who's much older than Scarlett. Not only does John C. Reilly look the part, he kind of played this role in Chicago.

Aunt Pittypat is an easily excitable and eccentric older woman. Scarlett stays with her during her time in Atlanta with Melanie. Kathy Bates would be perfect for this part. She's done period movies and she's played the spunky older woman in films like Titanic.

India Wilkes is Ashely's sister and pretty much hates Scarlett. I'm not sure why I chose Sarah Polley other than the resemblance and the fact that I like her and would like to see her in more stuff.

Big Sam is an ex-slave of the O'Hara's. He's the epitome of the gentle giant and he saves Scarlett when she's attacked. Quinton Aaron played the kind-hearted football star in The Blind Side and fits this role to a tee.

Belle Watling is a prostitute in Atlanta whom Rhett often visits, in the beginning for her services and later on, to pour his heart out about his marriage to Scarlett. She's a sympathetic but outspoken woman. Plus, she's a curvy red-head so who better than Christina Hendricks.

Bonnie is Rhett and Scarlett's only child. Rhett absolutely adores her and showers her with gifts and affection. Bailee Madison is not only adorable but if you've seen Brothers, it's clear that this kid is a natural.

Will Benteen is a character that only appears in the novel that I wish the movie had kept. He's a confederate soldier who is taken in at Tara. He eventually marries Suellen. I loved this character is that he and Scarlett seemed to really understand each other, and she had a good friend and confidante in him. He's very sensible and finally, here was a guy who didn't go completely nutty for Scarlett. For some reason, Casey Affleck just came to mind when I thought about this character.
