"Wait, I'll trade you, wait/ Please just one more day/ Then we'll go with no complaining"

I've gone and collected up too much in my head again, but only parts of it really matter, so I'll stick to them.

I saw Amanda Palmer again. She is phenomenal, but she is heartbreaking all at once.

I have a hard time calibrating the way I feel about Amanda and her music into words. I know that borders on stalker-esque, but really, she and Ani DiFranco ( Read more... )

Let me just say that even back in 2004, she was just as mesmerizing. I stuttered like crazy when I finally got to meet her. Seeing her is like seeing God or some equivalent. Something about her and her songs make me feel raw and open, and it's a hard thing to stomach.

I heard that song last month for the first time on youtube, and I fucking cried like a baby for ten minutes.

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself, hon. :)

Purple? Seriously? Do you have any idea how fucking difficult that is to read on a phone?!

End rant.

What I love about AFP, other than all the things I love about her, is that she stays grounded. I mean look at Twitter and her blog, everything she writes she gets 10 billion people telling her that she has godlike qualities, and yet it never goes to her head. Amazing.

I agree with you 100%. The ability to remain a human being in the midst of all that worship and adulation is super-human in and of itself.

And I'll be sure to write EVERYTHING IN PURPLE NOW. EVERYTHING. BWAHAHAHAHA.

End evil laughter.

My first date with my last girlfriend was to a Vermillion Lies show. That was a little over three years ago and they blew me away. I saw another show of theirs on my 21st birthday, got up and danced on stage, then played the lobster when the box released its glory. I think I also know someone who used to work directly under Zoe. It's been funny watching them go from this tiny act playing small coffeeshops in small towns to touring with dang Amanda Palmer.

I also wanted to mention that not long ago, a friend wrote me a letter detailing some troubles she was having in her life and said the same thing, that everything she wrote felt childish and trite. I told her that most everybody still feels like a kid when they're up against themselves, and if she was waiting around to have an original emotion, she'd better be prepared for a long wait. I can't imagine she wouldn't read that letter, and I can't imagine it wouldn't be precious to her in some way.

...I can't imagine having gotten a better response from someone to make me feel better. Thank you. I needed to hear ALL of that today. :)

I actually think I'm going to print out your response and hang it on my mirror where all my other "Calm the fuck down, you're not nearly as despicable as you think you are" reminders go.
