Lady

My wonderful pooch Lady is not a happy camper today. I took her to PetSmart this morning to get her vaccines. Normally, she likes going for a ride with me because it's usually to pick up food. But, she knew it couldn't be good if I put her collar on. I've never seen Lady so anxious. As it got closer to our turn, Lady started jumping on me and ( Read more... )

Don't be sad. Lady has been in your loving care for a long time now. Just try to focus on all the good things (as hard as it may be) and that you still have Lady around. -V

I'm so sorry, Jess. Sometimes I think it's harder to give up older pets than humans, because the humans understand what's happening. Animals don't understand when you hug them, or if they do, they really don't get why. Although dogs always seem so happy to be hugged. I guess the best way to look at a sick or old animal who's dying is to think of it the way you should for a human. It's better for it to finally be over, instead of being in pain. Boy, I don't think I'm helping too much. I'll go now. But many condolences.

Jess,
I know what ur going through. I've had to put two dogs to sleep after many years of being with the family. Corey is right, it's better to enjoy the time you have left with them and when the time is right, let their suffering end. Well, I don't want to dwell on the subject so until next time..

Damn she's been around for 12 years already, and she can still eke out a few more!? Lady's a trooper. She's a badass. A force to be reckoned with.

And she's your dog. Damn.

I've never had a pet last more than a few years with me. You should be lucky Lady's been around for so long.

I know I'm lucky. She's a blessing to everyone in the house. Dogs are the perfect substitute for siblings; they never steal your clothes, they don't listen in on your phone calls, they don't tell on you, and they always protect you.

Hm. You've been lucky with your dog. The number of times Reagan has stolen clothing from my room... He chewed through a pair of my underwear once, and it is not uncommon to hear "Reagan, is that your bra?!" issuing from my bedroom.

But that's different though. He's still learning. Lady used to still this ratty doll of mine and she'd chew on my Barbies. She liked stealing my mom's sandals.

Now, why is your bra within Reagan's reach?? Maybe that's his way of saying, "Clean your room!" haha.
