[The video begins with a view of a small lake, where a Magikarp is hopping out of the water over and over. The camera angle is both crooked and slowly bouncing. A simple "Tre-tret!" would explain why, Lara the Sentret was holding the Pokegear, balanced on her tail.]

I spoke to Falkner, and he said that Gym badges are seen as medals of honor to both Trainers and your own Pokemon, like a testament to your skill of training Pokemon and your bond with them.

That's what Falkner said, anyway.

I guess, but people in Johto seem to really show respect to anyone who has a badge. They may have other uses, I'm not sure, but there must be a reward of some kind for collecting each one.
