This is kind of one of those "Yes, I'm alive" posts. I'm making progress on the dissertation front. I created an outline of an email to send to the guy that I want to be my advisor. There are a few holes in my outline of what I think I should be able to tell him that I can't right now. I hope to be able to fill in those holes and send the email ( Read more... )

First of all, did you see the PhD comic with Tajel being super addicted to the election news? I thought of you when I read it:)

And as for your birthday hour on Sunday, I think there should be ice cream cake involved. Mostly because ice cream cake should be involved in everything.

I did see the comic and I saw a lot of myself in it. I comfort myself with the knowledge that I am not alone.

Ice cream cake is very good. But I can't eat the whole thing myself. Want to come have some ;-)

That's true, you won't be able to eat the whole thing yourself:) Bonus if we can lure a homework monster out with the ice cream cake and magically turn him into a dissertation monster for you!

We gain an hour this weekend? Sweet! That'll be useful after Thursday and Friday night choir rehearsals and a Saturday night concert.

I think you should get Harrison Ford to come strip for you on your birthday hour.

We do gain an hour. It will be nice for approximately one day, I suspect. Then it will seem like normal.

Uh... can I have a time machine to go with the Harrison Ford so I could have one a bit younger?

This is true. Well then, you can have whomever you wish come do a strip show. That guy you love from Highlander? Wait, is that your show?

Highlander is my show. The guy is Peter Wingfield (actor) or Methos, Adam Pierson, Benjamin Adams, etc. (multiple character aliases).

Glad the dissertation is going better. I am buried in case reports and IEPs and what I really want to do is write Indiana Jones fanfiction. It's therapy- there are some parallels with events in m my life, (see a past entry "Indiana Jones and the Trope of My Life") and I am trying to drain off the feelings before Something I'll Regret happens.

I take the extra hour of daylight saving as one I have 'banked' for me- I can often be found in my sewing room at ungdoly hours of the AM.

Why not go out for a birthday breakfast?

I'm trying to tell myself it is going better. Otherwise I work all day, go to bed, and lie there thinking about what all I haven't done for awhile until I finally get up and work for a couple more hours until 3:00 or 4:00 am and fall exhausted into bed. This really sucks.

Oooh. Breakfast could be yummy. Good idea.
