Even after I left, we took a Halloween road trip back there every year. There's no better place for Halloween!

As to whether or not she'll come back, well... if that ever happens, it won't be quite the same, and it sure as hell won't be under this administration. Sigh. Whaddyagonnadoo.

You should really go. Give it about five years, though. It will probably take at least that long to clear out all the flipping garbage and let the rich assey white people finish building their federally-insured megacondo complexes and all.

I know, and I'm sure people think I sound like a broken record. Because up here they JUST DON'T GET IT. No one I know up here has even been there. We were only 4 hours away, though, so we used to go all the time.

I KNOW. Exactly. The rest of the country mostly thought of it as a place to get ridiculously drunk, sweaty and laid. Sigh. (Not that it wasn't all those things too.)
