I could quote the whole thing back to you as my favourite part. But this: All my mistakes, the endless obligations, things left undone, tasks performed too well, loved ones betrayed, my wretched heart … Dream seeing himself without filters is heartbreaking. And Death must sometimes feel her task is a hard one.

Thanks, hon. I'm so glad you liked it. That entire scene had me in tears in the graphic novel. I like the idea that Dream finally sees himself as he is, flaws and all ... and it's too late. There's so much he must leave undone, and it doesn't matter because it's time to end ... :( *sniffle*
I think this was probably Death's hardest job. I may have to write a companion drabble from her POV.
Thanks again for your generous feedback. You made my day. :)

If you can bear to do that, then you are a stronger woman than I. He got a lifetime, but still, he was her little brother, and I think they had a special relationship.. It is exactly as you say. Dream goes through this journey from when we first meet him until this very point, and he learns so much, but it comes too little too late, and he is caught up in events he cannot fight, being who he is...
Btw, have you seen the reviews of the Sandman volumes on Weird tales. Interesting insights.

"But the fact that it’s there and she’s beside me makes this seem almost normal.
I will miss her smile."
I love their relationship. Those last moments shared together - makes my heart hurt.
Thank you for writing my suggestion!! You've made my morning perfect! : D

Thank you for your kind words. I love their relationship, too, and that scene in the novel just about killed me.
Thanks again. :)
