So wait... it was *good*, just really sad because of what the characters went through?
I didn't like Torchwood much at all, but is this essential for understanding the next season of Who?

yes great but not sad, it was fucking brutally depressing.
i don't think it's essential for series 5 of who, but i think the end of this makes a segway for jack in the specials this year.
actually the season 2 finale of torchwood adds depth to the finale of who series 4 finale.
