So! Last night TheCanadianWolf finished the video for "I Can See Russia" and we've uploaded it to YouTube! I'll embed it later, since I can't access YouTube from work, but for now here's a direct link:

Nice job. The pink hair was a nice touch, very sexy.

Also the link is kinda iffy.

The link is iffy? How so? The one from my LJ to the video, or the one in the YouTube description to "Get Your War On"? I'll be updating the description tonight anyways.

When I click I get a message: The video you have requested is not available. If you have recently uploaded this video, you may need to wait a few minutes for the video to process.

Searching "i can see russia rape kits" (most interesting search string ever) gets the video; I think capitalization in the link might make the difference actually.

I'll have to check that out when I get home - meantime, I've added the link you suggested. Thanks!

"Sara Palin & The Rape Kits"

How topical. Though in the interest of fairness, my brother Aaron's band, before they forgot, was to be titled "The SARS". X3

"The SARS" is a great name for the sort of band I imagine your brother would be in! :)

Yeah, I was thinking more Bedouin Soundclash than punk. ;)

Very well-presented though - love the backup vox.

Link *is* a bit funky, admittedly - try http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=UiqW5hH2C2Y

Thanks, for the compliments and the link! Bedouin Sound Clash is a good comparison - I'll take that praise!

Originally this song was supposed to be more like The Clash's reggae-influenced work, but it turned out less punk than that. The other songs are definitely more punk-sounding - this just happened to be better of the first two songs that were finished. ;)

It's funny. The first comments on Youtube are talking about how the song isn't punk. Which I find odd because highly political content in songs is the quintessential element of punk.

But I am really impressed about what you were able to put out in merely a week. The quality of the songs is impressive. Can't wait to hear what you do with your solo work. *Snugs*

So, I'm pondering messing around with your video a bit, moving that "centre" image a bit so that it'll be the thumbnail image on YouTube. Would you be OK with that? If I can get a quick web page up, I'll probably add that to the credits, too.

I'll probably edit the description text on YouTube as well, maybe give a brief explanation... and hopefully, mentions of other, more "punk" songs that are available. ;)

Yeah, I am fine with that.

Yeah, that's probably a good idea. Oh, and you can't HTML on Youtube, I had to change that after you put in the description.

Whatcha doin' on Wednesday evening? That's when Fuzzmonster and Dralen and Surya Astra are coming over to finish the last song. :)

You'd be welcome to supply the bass guitar track and/or some vocals, if you are so inclined - if not, you can at least get some flavour of the wild and wacky recording process. :)

Around supper time should be fine - any time after about 6:30pm on Wednesday. We can record directly into the board, so you won't need an amp. In fact, you can use my electric bass if you like - though if it's worth it to you to lug yours over here so that you can use your own, by all means! :)

Wear something you won't be horribly embarrassed to be seen on YouTube with (embarrassed is a relative term, since I'll probably get pics of you wearing one of those wigs, too - it's part of the schtick!) Although if you really don't want your picture online, I understand that. :)

As for reference material: I'll make a separate reply to you with lyrics and chords - I don't have anything particular written for the bass, so that'll be up to you once you hear the song (we'll jam around a bit to let everyone work it out)! But at least you'll be familiar with the structure.

See you tomorrow!
