a) this song would be about 6-7 minutes at 84 b) when I play this with you I'll show you were I would put the 7ths. If you're free Saturday come visit to save me from driving into town. My back hurts. c) you do emotional without being emo. Thankfully you have 'tional' working for you. D) I have an idea for melody but you usually do melody better than I do.
a) It works out to about 5, I think... 84bpm is cut time, every chord is held for 2 beats, not 4. b) I am not free Saturday but Iw ant to record a quick scratch track and you are first on my list of "proof-listeners" to help with details and arrangements. ;) c) Um... thanks. :) d) Melody is done, it's record-ready in my mind, except arrangement and some vocal "interest".
Been thinking about your comments this weekend - about the final outro part being too wordy and too repetitive to be a good, strong finish for the song, and I think you are right - can't say that I didn't sorta feel that something was out of place myself, but it's nice to get a kick in the butt to change it. :)
So what I'm thinking is to swap the outro and the bridge. I have yet to play it and try it, but looking at the lyrics, it sounds good in my head.
Thoughts? Using the "Pain, pain, go away" part as the outro makes sense to me because I feel that it is a lot stronger, musically - even though it has just as many repetitions of a single musical phrase, the phrase is longer, and cleaner, and there is more vocal interest in it.
You will at Feral! If not before, if you watch here - intent is to record a scratch track within the week and that will go up on FA... with a link posted here.
