Remembering Poetry

I was looking at some old poetry I had written roughly 15 years ago during a period of depression, (and consequently, a burst of creativity), and my early college years. I had originally saved them on floppy discs, which even if I could find them, I would have no means of running them. But fortunately, I had the foresight to print all of these out ( Read more... )

I'm not quite into poetry myself but I'm doing a creative writing class at the moment and the guy started with poetry on the first day. I'm a bit more open to poetry now, it can be quite exciting. I wish you all the best trying to get poems published, that sounds awesome and I know you can do it. :D

I'm doing the Nanowrimo at the moment and am amazed at how much I've grown in one year. I don't give up as easily as I used to and I think it's the reason I'm on day 5 and still coming up with story to fill the 50 000 words goal with. That in itself is a miracle. :P

I hope those headaches will go away. I get them at times, it's no fun. Best of luck. :)

Thank you! I have to be in the mood for poetry, which seems to be happening now. So as long as the mood strikes me, I might as well take advantage of it. That's great that you're taking a creative writing course! There is no "formula" for good writing, but it does help to be aware of the conventions and practice them. And a little guidance is always useful. Once you know the basics, you can experiment as much as you like.

And good luck with Nanowrimo! Writing is like excercise: the more you do it, the more natural it becomes. (You'll notice I didn't say "easier.") Keep at it and you'll have that novel written. :-)
