Excellent review! I really enjoyed this book, despite not being as well versed in ethics and virtue as yourself, and I agree with your major problem with the book as well.

I never thought about the idea of shame before when facing the immensity. An interesting perspective I will have to think about.

With your ongoing work on the virtues I was hoping you would see this book.

But anyway, the book still stands head and shoulders above the rest, and one day when I publish a book of my own I can only hope it's as good. ;-)

The review is in the hands of Oak Leaves and being edited for publishing as we speak. I also submitted it to Witchvox but I'm not sure what they'll do with it yet.
